Career Connections are exciting interactive virtual discussions with individuals in selected professions. Each Career Connection is designed with 7-12th graders in mind, giving them an opportunity to learn firsthand the skills and education needed for a successful career path. This program examines the importance of education and the hundreds of careers available in and around the National Football League. A 10-minute career video, which examines a wide variety of careers with the San Francisco 49ers organization, is shown during this session. The 50-minute program, which is designed to be highly interactive, is supplemented by a lesson aligned with Common Core/National Standards of Education and is recommended for grades 5-12.

Presenter: Dr. Anne Derouin
Company: Duke University
Dr. Anne Derouin (“Der win”) has been a practicing nurse for more than 30 years. Known as Dr. D at the Duke University School of Nursing, she teaches the first course students take when they start their educational program, the Pediatric nursing course and the clinical content related to adolescents in the Family and Pediatric Nurse practitioner programs at Duke. She has also spoken at national and regional conferences on these topics. Dr. D has served for more than 15 years as a nurse practitioner in Community and Schoolbased Health Centers in Durham, which provide care for middle and high school students. As a practitioner, educator, parent and community volunteer, she has mentored many young students to become nursing professionals and looks forward to talking with you and answering any questions you may have about becoming an R.N. Dr. Derouin received her RN degree from the University of Michigan. Her graduate degrees were completed at Duke University School of Nursing. She is married with two daughters in college and is a passionate “Blue Devil” fan.

Meme Yanetsko is the Chief Operating Officer from the Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce. Meme has been with the GOACC since 1991 and has a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing. Meme oversees all operations and staff at the Chamber, administers state funded job training programs, manages the Chamber's website and other social media accounts, and coordinates all of the Chamber public events.

Mark Frankel began his career in music studying drums with the late Gary Chester. After graduating from NYU with a degree in Music Technology, Mark jumped to the other side of the glass to become the head recording engineer for NYC’s Knitting Factory, at the famed Leonard St. location. In addition to his work as an audio engineer, he also taught advanced audio recording techniques at NYU. In 2005, his career took an unexpected turn back to drumming, mixed with a new found passion: acting. Mark has been performing as a Blue Man in Blue Man Group for the last fourteen years. His career with Blue Man has taken him to theaters, arenas and stadiums all around the world. Credits with BMG include the recorded concert performance, Blue Man Group, How To Be A Megastar: Live!, NBC’s Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris, the new Blue Man Group album: Three, and most bizarrely, as an answer on the game show, Jeopardy! He is currently the captain of Blue Man Group’s New York City show at the Astor Place Theater. In his spare time, Mark works on restoring his very old house in Cornwall On Hudson, NY with his partner, Ania, and their beautiful daughter, Lyra.

Al brings over 16 years of experience in mechanical engineering design. He is a LEED® Accredited Professional, as well as a Certified Plumbing Designer and Building Commissioning Professional. Al is also a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers, American Society of Plumbing Engineers and Association of Energy Engineers.
Rob has more than 20 years of extensive electrical design experience for a variety of project types. He is licensed in the state of New York, is a LEED® Accredited Professional and a member of the U.S. Green Building Council.
